Foreman- Canpar Etobicoke Terminal

Position Type: full time

REPORTS TO: Operations Supervisor
LOCATION: John Cyopeck Centre

The Foreman assists with day to day operations in area assigned to him/her at the terminal.

· Responsible for timely and accurate distribution of inbound and/or outbound freight daily, in accordance with established standards and procedures
· Implements new procedures to improve operational effectiveness
· Ensures Productively standards are maintained
· Ensures set up is completed for next shift.
· Establishes/maintains a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement.
· Maintains a proactive security program to safeguard the company’s physical assets.
· Reroutes/guides operations as necessary to meet operation changes & emergencies.
· Completes accurate and timely reports for management as required (staff schedules, attendance records, recruitment/ payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, WCB reports, on hands, load quality, arrival/departure).
· Performs other assignments or miscellaneous duties as assigned/instructed
· Ensures sufficient staff resources, materials and supplies on hand at all times
· Daily measurement, monitoring and management of performance, costs, and capacity utilization.
· Manage the day to day operation of the JCC to meet operational changes and emergencies.
· Comply with Federal, Provincial, Transport of Dangerous Goods, etc. regulations and the Collective Agreement(s).
· Applying the appropriate leadership/management style to motivate staff.
· Timely delivery of reporting information to Management.


· Knowledgeable of Canada Labour Code part 2
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Proven communication skills - written & oral.
· Demonstrated leadership, analysis & problem solving skills.
· PC skills (Word processing & spreadsheet).
· Working knowledge/interpretation of Collective Agreements.
· Demonstrated drive, initiative & flexibility to ensure task completion.
· Demonstrated time management & organization skills.
· Manage multiple activities/deadlines.
· Demonstrated leadership skills.
· Demonstrated ability to be assertive.
· Must take Transport of Dangerous Goods & WHMIS training courses.
· High school diploma.


· 3 years’ warehouse/ in courier industry.
· Knowledge & compliance with Dangerous Goods/WHMIS special handling procedures.
· College or University designation in an appropriate discipline.
· Prior working experience with quality/process improvement initiatives.
