Extra Care
CANPAR gives every package top priority, but not all parcels are created equal. Extra Care is for parcels which require special attention because of their shape, size or commodity. Remember to attach an XC label to your Extra Care parcels before you ship. Extra Care is available on all Canada Ground, Select and U.S.A. Southbound Services. Check in your CANPAR Rate Guide for charges. If you aren't sure whether a parcel requires special attention you can always check with your CANPAR driver. For a quick reference, we've listed some of the more common types of parcels that require CANPAR's Extra Care handling
- Bicycles (not in boxes)
- Skis (not in boxes)
- Foam rolls
- Trailer hitches
- Sacks (grass seed, fertilizer)
- Yard equipment (rakes, shovels, brooms)
- Basketball backboards
- Hand carts
- Protruding objects
- Various hardware items (i.e. vice clamps, hinges)
- Assembled display shelves
- Car parts (i.e. tires, mufflers, gas tanks)
- Pails (plastic or metal)
- Patio furniture
- Items in irregularly shaped boxes
- Packages with combined length and width greater than 130 inches (330 cm) but less than 140 inches (356 cm)
- Canada Ground & Select Services: Packages with a single dimension greater than 84 inches (213 cm) but less than 108 inches (274 cm)
Packages with a single dimension greater than 60 inches (152 cm) but less than 108 inches (274 cm)
